In our first-ever Ofsted report published in July 2023, we were rated Good in all areas covered by the inspection, namely Overall Effectiveness, Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development and Leadership and Management.
Our children are taught by experienced Montessori teachers, who give each child the best opportunity to develop both holistically and academically through the benefit of small classes and an enriching curriculum.
We ensure that all our children benefit from varied and well-directed early learning opportunities through their involvement in a wide range of practical and educational activities. This is supplemented with the support of one-to-one teaching, directed at each child’s specific educational requirements and well-being.
Little Pippins Montessori Nursery School have adopted the Department of Education and Skills Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS).
This is successfully incorporated into the Montessori environment, unique in our area, which we provide at Little Pippins. We are very proud of our reputation for providing excellent quality care and education, helping each child to fulfil their potential.
Our values are:
These values underpin our nursery ethos in preparing the children for their future by supporting them in being confident, independent and curious learners with a solid understanding of the wider world.
Our Nursery is located in the former Skelton Newby School, a stunning Victorian building built in 1856. It is split into three spacious classrooms, and has a variety of outdoor spaces for the children to explore.
We use an online e-learning journal to record the development of each child in our setting. Parents can access the system and see current snapshots so are more up to date with their child’s learning.
Our funded sessions run from 9:00am – 12:00pm & 1:00pm – 4:00pm. We offer an Early risers Club from 8:00am, Lunch club and Late Finish sessions till 5:30pm.
Each of the rooms – Little Pips (ages 0-2), Little Buds (ages 2 to 3) and Butterflies (ages 3-4) is led by a senior member of staff who is supported by our highly experienced and qualified nursery practitioners.
My children have & continue to love Baldersby Park Montessori. It is a friendly, warm & nurturing environment, teaching children so very much alongside a lot of play. No nursery in the area comes anywhere near what Mrs Jackson offers.

Since Iona joined Baldersby Park Montessori Nursery, she has thrived both socially and educationally. She has become a confident little girl who walks into nursery with a massive smile on her face and just loves her time there.

We were so worried sending our little boy to nursery at 9 months, but we had nothing to worry about! Mrs Jackson and the team have made it so easy for us and we know he’s happy and in safe hands. We get regular updates on his development and have noticed a huge difference in his skills, social and practical, since he started his two days a week at Baldersby Park. We’re so pleased and love his nursery family.

The best thing about Baldersby Park Montessori Nursery School is that the team (including CoCo) makes our daughter really really happy. This allows her to learn and develop quickly. The culture of the nursery gives her the values and beliefs we want to her have. We would always recommend Baldersby Park for early years learning and development.

Both of our daughters have flourished under the care of Mrs. Jackson and her wonderful team. Baldersby Park is an extremely special place and we cannot recommend it enough!
