The day starts with arrival & free play. We take a daily registration followed by songs, calendar and weather in circle time. Followed by daily phonics, songs, stories and tap dancing.
To be consistent with the Montessori Method and the importance of promoting independence the children choose their own snack and are offered milk and or water together with healthy snacks such as fresh fruit or vegetables, cheese, rice cakes, crackers, toast and the occasional homemade cake or biscuit. We encourage the children to use glass and crockery along with real utensils, they will experience setting the table and tidying away after themselves including washing up and sweeping the floor.
We aim to build independence and learning by giving the children the ability to access their own activities. This allows each child to express their own individual preferences and interests in line with The Montessori ethos.
The children love to spend time outdoors exploring the nature around them. Children have daily access outside come rain or shine where they are encouraged to explore and develop physical skills. They have access to our secure playground, woodland school, very large grassed area, climbing frames and picnic area. We have water trays, a sand pit, tyres, digging and growing patches, and a variety of cars and bikes. A change of clothes is very handy!
The Lunch club allows the children to sit together and eat their packed lunch.
We start the afternoon with Registration and a session of Work Cycles including arts and crafts or an outdoor walk and story time. We can use the school facilities for outdoor woodland walks and visits to the riding school, and once a week we have a big P.E session either indoors or outdoors using the climbing equipment and large grassed area. We also vary activities such as yoga, music lessons and cookery. We also have Show and Tell each afternoon at 3.30pm before tea.
