01 Oct Another direction
Roxy Fox initially thought she would be a midwife after leaving school, but work experience undertaken at Little Pippins has now taken her career in another direction.
It’s not a complete U-turn she has taken given working with children is very much front and centre in her new role as an Apprentice Early Years Practitioner.
Roxy started her Apprenticeship in Childcare at Little Pippins in September and will spend the next two years gaining hands-on practical experience whilst also undertaking some theory-based work too.
She is working to her Level 3 in Childcare but even though it’s very early days in her career, she is already setting her sights higher.
Roxy says: “I want to do my Level 4 as soon as possible because I am keen to learn new skills and progress my career.
“I did originally think about training to be a midwife but having spent work experience at Little Pippins I then knew that childcare was the career for me.”
Roxy is currently working in Little Pips, the dedicated room for our youngest children, although she will experience working with all age groups during the course of her apprenticeship.
“It’s a very calming environment in which to work and the staff have all been lovely and supportive since I started, so I couldn’t be happier to do my Apprenticeship here.”
In her spare time, Roxy is a keen netballer who plays for Thirsk Netball Club.
