The children are welcomed by their teacher and invited to come and join their friends to have breakfast (served 8am-8.30am) before having the opportunity to play alongside their friends in the Butterflies Room. At 9am the Little Buds go into their dedicated room to participate in carefully planned activities.
To be consistent with the Montessori Method and the importance of promoting independence the children choose their own snack and are offered milk and or water together with healthy snacks such as fresh fruit or vegetables, cheese, rice cakes, crackers, toast and the occasional homemade cake or biscuit. We encourage the children to use glass and crockery along with real utensils, they will experience setting the table and tidying away after themselves including washing up and sweeping the floor.
The children are offered various activities, including play, focus learning and social time. The children will be invited to join in with singing and group times. The children’s keyworker will work closely with the children to offer carefully planned activities and ‘next steps’ to help promote independence and curiosity.
The children love to spend time outdoors exploring the nature around them. Children have daily access outside come rain or shine where they are encouraged to explore and develop physical skills. They have access to our secure playground, woodland school and our very large grassed grounds. We have water trays, a sand pit, tyres, digging and growing patches, and a variety of cars and bikes. A change of clothes is very handy!
The lunch club allows the children to sit together and eat their cooked lunch. Our Little Buds have a shared dining hall with the Butterflies to sculpt and mold their learning.
The Little Buds that require a rest or sleep after lunch are settled to sleep by their room teacher with calming instrumental music quietly playing in the background. The children are observed throughout their whole rest time and the sleep is recorded on your personal app, along with 10-minute checks as part of our Safer Sleep Policy and Safer Sleep Training held by all teachers.
Children that do not wish to sleep are invited to play with the Butterflies in the main hall.
