The children are welcomed by their teacher and invited to come and join their friends to have breakfast (served 8am-8.30am) before going into their dedicated room to participate in carefully planned activities.
To be consistent with the Montessori Method and the importance of promoting independence the children choose their own snack and are offered milk and or water together with healthy snacks such as fresh fruit or vegetables, cheese, rice cakes, crackers, toast and the occasional homemade cake or biscuit. We encourage the children to use real utensils, they will experience setting the table and tidying away after themselves including washing up and sweeping the floor.
The children are offered various activities, including play, focus learning and social time. The children will be invited to join in with singing and group times. The children’s keyworker will work closely with the children to offer carefully planned activities and ‘next steps’ to help promote independence and curiosity.
The children love to spend time outdoors exploring the nature around them. Children have daily access outside come rain or shine where they are encouraged to explore and develop physical skills. They have access to our secure playground, our very large grassed grounds and 'Natures Nook' where they have an introduction to Forest School. We have water trays, a sand pit, tyres, digging and growing patches, and a variety of cars and bikes. A change of clothes is very handy!
Our 2–3 year olds enjoy a dedicated lunchtime in their own calm, familiar space, which they share with the Blossoms (3–4s) to build confidence, friendships, and gentle social skills. This shared routine helps children feel part of a wider community. After lunch, the children have time for sleep on our dedicated safer sleep room or free play, choosing activities that spark their curiosity and independence before beginning their afternoon work cycle. This quiet time also allows for 1:1 work or small group activities. The afternoon session flows naturally into outdoor activities, giving children space to move, explore and follow their interests in our garden/outdoor areas.
The Little Buds that require a rest or sleep after lunch are settled in a dedicated sleep room with calming instrumental music quietly playing in the background. The children are observed throughout their whole rest time and the sleep is recorded on your personal app, along with 10-minute checks as part of our Safer Sleep Policy and Safer Sleep Training held by all teachers.
Children that do not wish to sleep take part in small group, 1-1 activities or free play.
