Little Buds Room (2-3yrs)

The Little Sprouts Room is led by Miss Amanda. We have a ratio of 1:3 in this room. The children are offered a more mirrored routine alongside the Little Pips, with the focus to allow them more space, risky play and outdoor experiences and the main focus preparing them to transition to The Little Buds Room.  It is a beautiful clean and uncluttered environment offering activities that are in the children’s reach, promoting independence and challenges that fulfill their attention, fine and gross motor skills and providing engagement.

A day in the life of…

MORNING

The children are welcomed by their teacher and invited to come and join their friends to have breakfast (served 8am-8.30am) before exploring the focus activities on offer that have been carefully planned to follow the children's interests.

SNACK TIME

The children choose their own snack and are offered milk and or water together with healthy snacks such as fresh fruit or vegetables, cheese, rice cakes, crackers, toast and the occasional homemade cake or biscuit. The children are encouraged to help find their own water bottles and wash and dry their hands before their meals. After their shared snack time the Sprouts will explore the nursery gardens either in their dedicated enclosed garden (coming in Spring 2026) or for a woodland walk to the local park or church.

WORK CYCLES

The children are offered various activities, including play, focus learning and social time. The children will be invited to join in with singing and group times. The children’s keyworker will work closely with the children to offer carefully planned activities and ‘next steps’ to help promote independence and curiosity.

OUTDOOR PLAY

The children love to spend time outdoors exploring the nature around them. Children have daily access outside come rain or shine where they are encouraged to explore and develop physical skills. They have access to our secure playground, our very large grassed grounds and 'Natures Nook' where they have an introduction to Forest School. We have water trays, a sand pit, tyres, digging and growing patches, and a variety of cars and bikes. A change of clothes is very handy!

LUNCH & FREE PLAY

The Sprouts will have their nappies changed or encouraged to use the potty before their lunch. The children share their lunchtime with their friends and teachers, they will be encouraged to use cutlery and polite manners. They will have a cooked lunch and dessert with fresh water offered throughout the day.
The children will then wash their faces and hands before heading off for their agreed nap time or guided play.

AFTERNOON

The children that require a nap throughout the day will be provided with their own fresh clean bedding and any comforters that they need to help soothe them to sleep. Friends from the Buds or Blossom Rooms may join them for a quiet time or nap. There will be a minimum of two qualified, first aid and safer sleep trained teachers in the room at all time, sleepers will be checked every 10 minutes and recorded on our Care Diary App. Quite often calming instrumental music or white noise will be played in the background. The rest of the afternoon is made up of more outdoor, free and free play.
