It has been a marathon not a sprint for children at a Baldersby Park Montessori Nursery School who are leaving to start ‘big school’ in September.

Twenty-one children are leaving the nursery and to mark the occasion they took part in a sports day before donning gowns and caps for their graduation day.

Each child was given a “rolls of honour” certificate to mark their stay at the nursery.

It was an emotional day in more ways than one as this will be the last graduation ceremony to take place at Baldersby Park before we relocate to larger premises in the former Skelton Newby Hall Primary School building in Skelton on Ure in September. The nursery is being renamed as Little Pippins Montessori School Nursery.

Baldersby Park Montessori School Nursery Headteacher Victoria Pollitt said: “It’s always sad when children, many of whom have been at the nursery since they were babies, leave to start school but we know we have given them the best possible start to their early years education.

“We would like to wish the children and their parents the very best for the future and thank them for their amazing support.

“It’s extra sad this year as this will be the last time we have a sports day/graduation at our current site, but it’s a tradition we will be continuing when we move to Skelton on Ure.”
