By the time Honey Booth qualifies as an Early Years Practitioner she will have childcare down to a ‘T.’

That’s because the 17-year-old is currently nearing the end of a two-year T Level in Education and Childcare at York College.

One T-Levels is equivalent to 3 A-Levels and were introduced by the Government in 2020 as a way of providing students with the skills needed in their chosen profession.

As part of her studies, Honey is required to spend two days a week in an early years setting, and we were delighted to welcome her to Baldersby Park in September 2022.

During this time, she has spent time in all the rooms within the nursery, getting to know the children, parents, and staff, and says she is really enjoying the experience.

Honey says: “I always enjoyed looking after my younger siblings, so I knew from an early age that I wanted to go into childcare and even did a childcare GCSE to prepare me for my future career.

“The T Level is great because you learn the theory in the classroom and then get practical experience in a nursery, and I could not have chosen anywhere better than Baldersby Park.

“It is great seeing the children grow and develop and the staff here are very nice and so supportive.

“I have learned so much during my time here and hopefully once I gain my qualification I can come and work here full-time. That would be fantastic.”
